DDRC's early detection initiative is a crucial step in identifying disabilities or developmental variations in early childhood. This process, coupled with our understanding of the necessity for early intervention, is a cornerstone of our work. We firmly believe that early identification of learning difficulties and developmental delays can significantly improve the lives of children and their families.
The importance of early identification of children with disabilities cannot be overstated. It is a shared responsibility of parents, schools, and the community. National Policies have consistently stressed the need for early identification and appropriate interventions to support children with special needs, particularly the very young.
National Policy for Persons with Disabilities (2006) also emphasises that children up to the age of six may be identified as soon as possible and necessary interventions made urgently so that they are capable of joining inclusive education at the right age.
